About Diaspora Gardens
Diaspora Gardens is lovingly stewarded by Regina M. Laroche on Madeline Island, one of the Apostle Islands next to the Chequamegon Bay here in Wisconsin.
Regina is the daughter of an Afro-Caribbean revolutionary and an African American sharecropper overcomer, as well as a mother and spouse. She offers creative garden and healing justice experiences to connect children, families, and groups with life-giving land and food traditions of Communities of Color.
Her small scale farming, community arts and spirit life is dedicated to nourishing and healing bodies, earth, spirits, and communities – especially the impacts of racial inequities and traumas.
In cooperation with the natural environment, creatures — wild and domestic, family, friends, and community – Regina uses chemical-free permaculture methods to cultivate healthy food, learning, community, and lifestyle on the edge of Lake Superior.
