Easy-to-make Tea for Period Discomfort

There are tons of wonderful herbs & teas to help address period pain… but what if you don’t have them when the need strikes?? ⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣We wanted to share this easy recipe for cinnamon & ginger tea, because you only need 2 ingredients that you may already have in your pantry!

⁣⁣Why cinnamon and ginger? Well, they’re delicious, comforting, AND they both have specific traits that can help take the edge off your cramps and discomfort!

 

 

⁣⁣

CINNAMON⁣⁣⁣⁣

    • reduces inflammation ⁣⁣⁣⁣
    • stabilizes blood sugar, which helps regulate mood swings, irritability, and food cravings ⁣⁣⁣⁣
    • helps dilate blood vessels, which encourages circulation and helps your blood flow easier, so your body doesn’t have to work as hard during your period!

⁣⁣GINGER⁣⁣⁣⁣

    • wonderful aid for menstrual pain, as it specifically helps to warm and relax the pelvic region, and increases circulation to that area! ⁣⁣⁣⁣
    • anti-inflammatory and a blood sugar stabilizer ⁣⁣⁣⁣
    • reduces nausea and helps with indigestion, both of which are common side effects during menstruation ⁣⁣⁣⁣
    • warms you up from head to toes, helping you relax and ease tension that comes with being cold, stiff, or sore! 

 

What you’ll need:⁣⁣⁣⁣

2 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces⁣⁣⁣⁣
2 inches of fresh ginger root, sliced into thin coins⁣⁣⁣⁣
4 quarts of water⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣(these measurements are just a guideline… these ingredients are very forgiving, and you can use whatever you have!)⁣⁣⁣⁣

Steps:⁣⁣⁣⁣

-Add the cinnamon sticks and ginger slices to a pot filled with cold water⁣⁣⁣⁣
-Bring to a boil, then simmer for at least 20 minutes, or longer⁣⁣⁣⁣
-Strain out the pieces⁣⁣⁣⁣
-Serve immediately and/or store the remainder in the fridge!⁣⁣⁣⁣
-Drink whenever the need strikes! And don’t forget to snap on your fave reusable cloth menstrual pad for extra comfort
