Girls, Interrupted
Sad news, ladies: Goods 4 Girls, as we know it, is closing down. For the past year, the Goods 4 Girls project accepted cloth pad donations and sent them to girls in Africa via various aid organizations. The project was the brain child and one-woman-show of green activist, Deanna Duke. You can read more about Deanna's decision to end her Goods 4 Girls work on her blog – Crunchy Chicken.
Since her blog post it seems that someone stepped up to take over the project – possibly a devoted fan of Crunchy Chicken if the comments on her blog are any clue. The G4G website says they aren't currently accepting donations but will in the future. We're keeping our fingers, toes and pads crossed that G4G will be up and running again soon. In the meantime, you won't be seeing the G4G donation in the Party In My Pants shop. Hopefully this is just a hiccup and not a farewell to such a great cause.
Many of our customers have donated to the G4G cause and if you're one of them, we thank you a million and one times. Together we've been able to make a difference in the lives of many young women and the results might be further reaching than we ever imagined. The Girl Effect is another organization working to improve the lives of girls and they mince no words about how influential girls can be in ending poverty and changing the world. They define The Girl Effect as "the powerful social and economic change brought on when girls have the opportunity to participate in their society."
